Back to School Night 9/1
Event Time: 5:00–7:30 p.m.
Staff: 5:00–7:30 p.m. (30 minutes before and after the event for preparation and cleanup)
Families: 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Back to School Night is an evening event that gives children and their parents the opportunity to meet their teachers, explore the classrooms, and become familiar with Kid Care before the school year begins. Staff should arrive at 5:00 p.m. to prepare for the event and remain until 7:30 p.m. to assist with cleanup. Families are invited to attend between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, teachers should report directly to their classrooms to ensure they are clean, organized, decorated, and ready to warmly welcome students and their families. Teachers may choose to send a SignUpGenius link along with the Welcome Email sent the Monday before Back to School Night. While optional, scheduling families in time slots can help stagger arrivals and provide more opportunities for meaningful conversations.
Specials teachers will host a welcome table where they can meet families and share information about their programs. Additional tables will include student Kid Care t-shirts and information on additional apparel available through an online spirit store, as well as information from Cottonwood Creek Children's Ministry.
Each teacher will receive a Class Folder containing a class roster, a Volunteer Opportunities flyer, and a Room Parent Volunteer Sign-Up sheet. Teachers of Fours and Fives classes will also receive Hearing & Vision Screening Forms, which must be signed by a parent during Back to School Night and placed in the Event Coordinator's mailbox before leaving that evening. Teachers will also receive a Family Information Form to distribute to parents. Parents should complete this form at home and return it to the teacher, as it is for classroom use only and does not need to be submitted to the office. Some teachers may also receive a F.A.R.E. (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency) Form for a student with a documented allergy. This form should be posted inside the classroom cabinet door for quick and easy reference.
Please note that only one master copy of the Hearing & Vision Screening Form and the Family Information Form will be provided. Teachers are responsible for making enough copies for their class prior to Back-to-School Night.
Childcare is not provided during this event. Staff members who have children enrolled in Kid Care should coordinate with their child's teacher to visit the classroom before or after the evening so they are available to welcome families in their own classroom.
Staff Attire: Current-year Kid Care staff shirt with clean jeans or other appropriate pants.
